Tiresias and the naked Athena

Once Tiresias happened to see the goddess Athena completely naked while she was bathing. Full of shame, Athena tried to cover his eyes with her hands, causing Tiresias to lose his sight.

Chariclo, the mother of Teiresias, was inconsolable. So she decided to go to Athena, who was a close friend of hers, and ask her to restore her son's sight.

Unfortunately, Athena lacked the power to do this. Instead, however, she sent a serpent to Tiresias to clean his ears. From that moment on, Tiresias was able to fully understand the language of birds.

Furthermore, Athena gave Tiresias a staff made of cornel wood, which enabled him to walk like a sighted person.
