Winds (Anemoi) in Greek Mythology- the Ancient Greek Euros

Euros, the east wind

Last Update: 02 May 2021

Euros, the east wind
Euros (also known as Sirocco) was the southeast wind in Greek mythology. Competing with Zephyros (the West Wind) and Notos (the South Wind), Euros brought rain and tornadoes but also the melting of snow in spring.
Euros was considered as a melancholic and rainy wind. He was therefore usually depicted as an old man with long hair and a beard, wearing heavy clothing (usually a cloak).
