Once, a lion was not satisfied with the way he had been designed by Prometheus. So one day he presented himself in front of his master.
"What's the matter?" Prometheus wanted to know.
"Prometheus, without a doubt, you made me large and handsome, equipped with strong jaws and armed with claws on my feet...but still I have my complaints: I am absolutely terrified of roosters!", the lion explained.
"My dear lion, I have given you all the good qualities I own myself, but I didn't mold your soul. You have to blame your own soul and not mess with me."
Full of shame, the lion turned back to the wild woods and even thought about killing himself, when suddenly he met a huge elephant on his way and noticed that he kept wiggling his ears.
"What's wrong with you", the lion asked, "why do you keep wiggling your ears?"
"My goodness, how I fear this mosquito! This tiny insect that buzzes constantly, it makes me crazy with fear... if it gets inside my ear, I'm ruined!"
After those words, the elephant returned to his cave with great satisfaction.
"I feel so much better now," he said to himself. "How funny I wanted to kill myself, just because of a rooster! In fact, I am big and strong and so much better off than the elephant, because at least I fear arooster, which is far more fearsome than a mosquito!"
This fable shows us that even a gnat can prove strong enough to fill an elephant with fear
