A Satyr once formed friendship with a man. One very cold winter's day, as they talked, the man raised his hands to his mouth and blew on them.

"Why do you do that for?" the Satyr wanted to know.
The man told him that he was warming his hands because they were numb and cold.

Later on in the day they sat down to eat, and the they were served steaming hot bowl with soup. The man raised the hot soup to his mouth in small portions and blew on them.

Once again, the Satyr inquired the reason.
“I do it to cool my meal, because it is too hot.” the man replied.

"I am sorry, I can no longer consider you as a friend," said the Satyr, "you blow hot and cold with the same breath!"

The fable tells us we should avoid friendships with ambiguous characters
